Coaching & Mentoring for Businesses
A business will typically start with a great idea and a thrusting positive attitude by the entrepreneur or owner, it will grow and develop and reach a point at which the growth pattern requires the owner to juggle many roles and manage many different aspects of the business.
Not seeing the wood for the trees?
Just some of the typical issues faced by entrepreneurs and business owners are:
1. Insufficient or inappropriate task delegation
2. Cash flow problems and funding issues
3. Lack of strategic planning
4. Managing employee relations
5. Managing organisational change
6. Building an effective marketing strategy.
Running a business is time and resource intensive and a business coach or mentor can provide business support from an objective viewpoint which the owner is able to use as a sounding board to identify areas for development or improvement. This might be about managing changes brought about by increased growth, planning promotional or marketing strategies, identifying target markets, pitching to an investor or evaluating a particular business situation.
A coach or mentor can help identify obstacles to improved business performance looking at how to prioritise changes, develop analytical skills, and find new business opportunities. The benefits come from having
- Effective business support
- An objective viewpoint to help you analyse your business and its market.
- Guidance on how to develop support networks
- Insights into how to utilise resources effectively
- Someone to help you monitor your business progress, decide on your business goals and targets and balance these with your personal objectives.

How does Business Coaching and Mentoring work?
Mentoring or coaching starts with an introductory meeting to gain a general overview of the business, its markets, products and objectives. There may be defined issues to address or a diagnostic process to assess potential areas for improvement, change or growth.
A programme is then set to fit with the business objectives where outcomes and measurement processes are agreed and may include one-to-one sessions, team meetings and workshops. Target actions are built in to ensure measurable progress and to evaluate success and relevance to the overall business goals.
